A
little about me... (last updated ~2001)
· Since 1981
my business focus has been in electronics
engineering and computer technical services. · Until about 1990
my main
"squeeze" was electronics. I worked with A/V, sound recording, video, and
hi-tech 3D-imaging
systems ...starting with
repair and maintenance jobs, and quickly leading to research, development, and
production management for hi-tech instruments. Eventually my interests spawned
an R&D services company to facilitate young would-be inventors
and entreprenuers like myself (I have also developed and secured
a couple of patents of my own). · In 1990 I was
introduced to
the Macintosh and I became more interested in computer technology. In my work
up until that time, I had become familiar with IBM PC's and mainframes,
so the Mac was a bit hard to "swallow" at first; however, with the
assistance of venerable Apple-technician friends, I soon came to appreciate its superior
engineering and became intimately familiar with it's system, and with
using it to implement solutions for small businesses via database and
other applications programming & integration. · During the next five
years , along with
r&d concerning various business applications of the Mac and its
operating system environment in general, I began delving
heavily into desktop publishing and website design.
· In 1995 I moved from the
SF Bay Area
to Washington State. I essentially went there
to write and eventually relaunched my Mac business in the Portland~Vancouver area, providing
onsite technical systems support and applications customization. I continued
with publishing and website development, and by 1996 I became interested and intimately
involved in just-budding e-commerce technology and electronic publishing
(e-books). · For the last few years
I have been working centrally from the Lake Tahoe / Reno
/ Carson City region (I live in Stateline), serving businesses in a
number of cities throughout the west coast, providing computer networking,
communications, and programming solutions, focussing largely on the
Microsoft
Platform (NT, Terminal Server, Citrix, some
Novell, all flavors of Windows, etc). I plan and administer small office networks, as
well as building/maintaining firewalls, and provide application/database solutions both for
inhouse and online business needs.

My
focus today is twofold: 1) providing affordable state of the
art networking solutions for small to mid-sized businesses.
In the last several years there have been significant developments in the
computer-tech industry which are allowing technology specialists such as
myself to begin bringing corporate scale solutions "to the people
at large".
What this means is small and mid-sized businesses are beginning to take
advantage of services heretofore reserved for only the Fortune 500 "level"
corporations, and it is giving them more muscle to compete & manage
their businesses more efficiently and effectively ...while saving significant
money on resources.
2) providing website solutions including basic presence, ecommerce, and web application solutions, such as facilitating databases online both statically and interactively.
Need a web presence? Want to get your product catalog online? Or maybe your needs are more sophisticated, requiring interactive forms, client-data compilation, ...and the list goes on. Whatever your needs, I can help make the web work for your business. |
